Prop 8 Victory

Congratulations are in order for the people of California for the overturn of Proposition 8.  This is a major victory for people fighting for same-sex marriage. 

But there is still a ways to go.  This was a District Court decision, and so does not necessarily apply everywhere.  And unless the fight goes to the Supreme Court, judges in other districts do not have rule in the same manner as Judge Walker.  DOMA is still in place.  And same sex partners are still not guaranteed federal protections or benefits.

It has been a good fight, and good to see this victory.  Just remember to not sit on our laurels.  There are still a lot more to fight for out there.
